Knowledge integration meets Serious Games

A series of online learning sessions is hosted by the social enterprise publisher Ishara Press CIC (https://ishara.uk), the Global Regeneration Co-lab (https://grc.earth), the EU-COST project “Social Sciences and Humanities for Transformation and Climate Resilience” (https://shift-cost.eu), and the University of Central Lancashire’s PACT Institute (https://www.uclan.ac.uk/research/institutes/pact). Our aim is to create a meeting space for the fields of knowledge integration and Serious Games.

Please email Prof Ulrike Zeshan at uzeshan@uclan.ac.uk for any questions about these events.

Knowledge integration experts (aka knowledge brokers) work as catalysts, bridge builders and facilitators to support groups of people from different societal sectors and with different understandings of a problem space to work together. Their work in fact goes beyond “knowledge” and is often concerned with negotiating different cultures of communication and collaboration. Serious Games are creative playful activities that can create an inclusive and non-threatening environment for just such a space. We bring together scholars and practitioners from these two fields in a dialogue in three sessions:

3rd June (3-4:15pm GMT): “Competencies” – a dialogue around competencies for complex cross-sectoral problem spaces (e.g. convening diverse teams, holding space in meetings, co-publishing in accessible formats), and the contributions of knowledge integration and Serious Games. CLOSED

17th June (3-4:15pm GMT): “Orientations” – a dialogue around inner orientations for complex cross-sectoral problem spaces (e.g. mental flexibility, humility, deep listening, patience), and the contributions of knowledge integration and Serious Games. CLOSED

1st July (8-9:15am GMT): “Place-based work” – a dialogue around complex cross-sectoral problem spaces in a specific local context (e.g. a Living Lab/Real-World Lab, a bioregion, or urban planning), and the contributions of knowledge integration and Serious Games.
